Health Hazard summary Low to moderate toxicity – irritant. Use to
save work practices to avoid eye or skin
contact and dust generation and inhalation.
When handled to small quantities the
potential for dust inhalation and adverse
health effects are reduced.
Eye Irritant. Exposure may result in irritation
lacrimation, pain, redness, and blurring or
dimness of visio.
Inhalation Low to moderate irritant. Over exposures
may result in mucus membrane irritation of
the nose and throat and coughing, dizziness
and headache.
Skin Irritant. Prolonged contact may result in
irritation, itching and possible skin rash.
Ingestion Low to moderate toxicity. Ingestion may
result in headache, nausea, vormiting,
gastrointestinal irritation and diarrhoea.
Toxicity data LD5D(ingestion) : 6207 mg/Kg (mouse)
LD5D(intraperitoneal): 274 mg/Kg (mouse)

Instability Stable In air
Polymerization Will not occur
Conditions to Avoid Corrosive and corrodes most metals
Incompatible Avoid contact with metals/ metal alloys
(titanium is exception). Avoid contact carbon
Materials Steel, stainless steel, copper/copper alloys, and
aluminium/ aluminium alloys
Eye Flush gently with running water. Seek medical attention if
irritation develops
Inhalation If over exposure occurs leave exposure area immediately. If
other than minor symtomps are displayed seek immediate
medical attention.
Skin Gently flush affected areas with water and soap. Seek medical
attention if irritation develops.
Ingestion Do not induce vomiting. If consolous, drink water or milk of
magnesia, but do not give bicarbonate to neutralize. Get
medical attention.
Extinguishing Non flammable, however if material is involved in
A fire use dry chemical, CO2 or water sprau.
Fire and Explosion Non flammable. Evacuate area and contact
emergency services. Toxic gases (sulphur oxides)
may be envolved when heated in a fire situation.
Remain upwind and notify those downwind of
hazard. Wear full protective equipment including self
Contained Breathing Apparatus when combating
fire. Use waterfrog to all intact containers and
nearby storage areas.

Storage Store in coll, dry areas, removed from foodstuffs. Ensure
containers are labelled, protected from physical damage and
sealed when not in use.
Handling Avoid skin and eye contact and breathing in dust.
Personal Protective Equipment Wear dust-proof goggles, converalls
and PVC or rubber gloves. Where an
inhalation risk exist, wear a class P1
( Particulate) Respirator.
Spillnge If split (bulk), wear dust-proof goggles, PVC/ rubber gloves,
coveralls and a class P1 ( Particulate) respirator (if an
inhalation risk exists). Absorb with moist sand or similar and
place in scalable containers for disposal.
Enviroment This product is not anticipated to cause adverse affects to
animal or plant life if released to the environment in small
quantities. If released to water, aluminium sulphate will
slowly be precipitated as aluminium hydroxide. Not expected
to bioaccumulate. Toxic to aquatic organisms at around 136
ppm. Plants may experience chronic toxicity at 25 ppm.
Howeverits use fertilizer indicates beneficial effects to plants
at low concentration.
